On this site we have four different galleries exhibiting desert art work, tropical paintings, paintings of flowers and our decorative wood pieces and gift shop.  Each has something a little different to offer.

The Desert Gallery is primarily acrylic on canvas paintings of the Anza Borrego Desert in Southern California. There are a few paintings of other American southwest deserts or just desert themes but the Gallery features the Borrego Desert in San Diego county, California.

Tropical Gallery is art work of sunsets, palm trees, tropical beaches and landscapes of mostly Southern California, the Caribbean and tropical regions of North America.

The Flower Gallery exhibits close-ups and landscapes of flowers, birds, butterflies, hummingbirds, gardens and still life's of floral subjects and/or actual subjects.

The Gift & Wood Gallery shows our handcrafted, hand painted decorative  wood furnishings.  You will see small to medium sized wood furniture like cabinets, tables, shelves, chests and also wood accessories like boxes, trays, wall hangings. The small gift items may include inexpensive small reproductions of Betty's paintings and small canvas originals.  Our small gift items vary and change as do our wood items.

Harris is a skilled wood worker with an eye for excellence in his creations.  He is appreciated by his many clients for his hand crafted beautiful   furniture and decorative wood pieces.

The Artists

Harris and Betty have been married since 1985 and from that time  have been creating art together .

  Harris's woodworking business, "Genesis Woodworks" is located in Escondido California where he designs and creates fine wood furnishings and cabinetry.  He has been working in wood since 1975 and has fine tuned his skill, meticulously  and beautifully creating fresh wood furnishing designs for the residences of Southern California.  Harris is an artist as well. He has delved into various mediums over his life time including leather, pottery and painting. 

Betty is born with natural creativity and drive.  She is known and appreciated for her realistic paintings of the Anza Borrego Desert and her detailed impressions of palm trees and flowers.  All her life she has loved nature and desires to express that passion in her paintings.  Betty has often said of nature when she sees it at its' finest, "If I painted that on canvas, no one would believe that the painting came from an actual  real time experience, it is so spectacular."  She feels sunsets are particularly like that, ever changing and so colorful.  This has inspired her to create the 'Sunset Palms' paintings with an endless supply of sunsets to move her to paint.

Original Paintings

All Original paintings are by the artist, Betty Gilroy.  The originals are collector's items.  Each painting comes with a 'Certificate of Authenticity'. Currently available are acrylic on canvas in each of the painting galleries.  At various times there may be watercolors done by the artist.  These watercolors will be clearly marked as such. 

Paper Prints and Canvas Giclees

Also available are paper prints and canvas giclees of selected gallery paintings.

What Are Prints?

Quality ink/dye copies of artwork done in a couple of different ways.

1. Limited Edition Prints - made from high quality,  satin  Premium Photo Paper and high quality ink that will make your prints last for many years.   See how to care for your print.

Limited Edition Prints are published in a limited quantity, with the artist's signature and are numbered. 

2.  Open Edition Prints - made from high quality,  satin  Premium Photo Paper and high quality ink that will make your prints last for many years.   See how to care for your print. 

Open Edition Prints,  there are no limits to the number of prints to be printed by the artist.  Each print is signed by the artist.  These prints are published continuously.

What Is A Giclee?

Giclee (zhee-klay):  the French word "giclée" is a feminine noun that means "a fine spray". 

A "giclee print" marks an elevation in printmaking technology. Images are generated from high resolution digital scans of existing art work and printed with archival quality inks onto various substrates including canvas, fine art, and photo-base paper. The giclee printing process provides better color accuracy than other means of reproduction. 

A very advanced ink-jet printer uses minute droplets of ink to create prints with no visible dot screen pattern. The quality of the giclee print rivals traditional silver-halide and gelatin printing processes and is commonly found in museums, art and photographic galleries. The colors are brighter and long lasting.  The range of color for giclees is far beyond that of lithography, and details are crisper. Giclee printing offers a whole new vibrant medium for art.

Wood Furnishings and Accessories

The wood furnishings are handmade and hand painted by Harris and Betty Gilroy.

All wood products are made individually by the artists.   Each is designed and created for durability in it's intended environment.

If you see a wood furnishing you like but it is not available, we are able to make a similar one for you.  Remember that every wood furnishing is unique and each will vary even if it is the same design and content.  The time to design and create a similar or custom wood furnishing varies from piece to piece.  Call the artist to discuss details of your request.

 Wood  Furnishings are made from various woods, carefully and meticulously crafted with wood glue which creates a stable and life time bond in all the joints.  The outer surface of the products are fine sanded, artistically painted with quality Acrylic Polymers and then protected with a high quality water based varnish.  These water born products make our interior wood furnishings non-toxic and free from lead and harmful solvents.  Each wood piece is individually signed by the Artists before it is varnished.
